Blending Recommendations
NO. 1201 is an absolute sensation that bursts with the notes of high summer. Fresh green and fragrant currant leaves meet the dewy grass before exploding into Blackcurrant juice and wrapping into the glorious aroma of Roses.
While essentially a scent of summer, she is sophisticated and elegant and can be enjoyed all year round. NO.1201 is much more than her just reading her scent notes might first suggest. There’s a fresh brightness in the top notes, a floral and fruity heart, and a very subtle flourish of comforting Vanilla.
Use it alone oils but you can also achieve stunning results by blending with them. Use NO. 1201 to personalize your own blend with other VINEVIDA essential oils and fragrance oils.
How Would I Blend It?
People often ask, “Well, how would you blend it”?
It’s a good question.
When you first begin blending, it can be difficult to see ‘gaps’ where you could add in other harmonizing oils, be that fragrance oils or essential oils. But once you start to do it, it becomes easier to define Blending Frameworks for yourself.
Blending No. 1201
As a whole, NO. 1201 has room in the top notes, a full fruity floral heart, and plenty of space to add more fragrance to the base notes.
Top Notes
I would stay with the green theme in the top notes. Perhaps try adding in other smooth green notes like Bamboo, Aloe, grass, or other leaves. That said, the fruit in the blend makes it feel warm, so I would shy away from sharp cooler greens like Mints and Eucalyptus as they might detract from this. A dash of Rosemary could be perfect.
Citrus notes are useful but stay on the green and yellow sides and stay away from the Oranges. Kaffir Lime would be inspirational here!
Suggestions for Fragrance Oils
- To lighten it and freshen things up, ramp up the fresh green notes with NO. 4 - Bamboo Garden and make it a little lighter with the green Citrus zing of NO. 48 - Lemon Verbena.
Suggestions for Essential Oils
Heart Notes
The heart notes are bursting with those dark juicy jewels of Blackcurrant and that blissful scent of Roses. Stick with adding dark fruit like Black Cherry or a dark purple Plum, you could try the rose-like notes of Lychee too.
How about adding to the florals by piling on heady flowers like Jasmine, Honeysuckle, and Gardenia? But be careful not to bury the rose and smother her. Give her space to sing.
There is room to introduce some spice if you want to. It would certainly add to the sensuous nature of the profile. Perhaps try warming Ginger, Nutmeg, and even a dash of Cinnamon to compliment the Vanilla. Again, avoid cardamom because its notes can be a bit Orangey.
Suggestions for Fragrance Oils
- Flood the heart notes with some heady florals to make it super sensuous with NO. 43 - Honeysuckle & Jasmine and NO. 33 - Fresh Cut Roses.
Suggestions for Essential Oils
- Ramp things up in the heart with Rose Geranium, Jasmine, and Rose.
Base Notes
This is where there is the most room to play with. You could make a BIG difference to the overall scent profile of NO. 1201, but also to the balance so just exercise a little caution around how much oil you add.
As stated, this fragrance is sensuous which could make it perfect for Valentine’s Day if you added a note of Dark Chocolate to it.
My favorite things to add would be rich smooth notes of Amber and Oud. Consider the Tobacco notes of NO. 3100 as well.
Fragrance Oils Recommendations
- To add more depth and turn this fragrance from sensational to a masterpiece, consider the resounding base notes of NO. 1205 - Inspired By: Oud Paris By Diptyque and NO. 3100 - Inspired By: Tobacco Vanille By Tom Ford. You only need the smallest amount to add a whole new element to the fragrance profile. (Just as an aside, I currently have a blend of NO.1201 and 1205 ‘maturing’ in a perfume blend and it is INCREDIBLE and I am very excited about it)!

An Interesting Way To Use Vanilla
Did you know that Vanilla scent affects the limbic system of the brain, in quite profound ways? It fosters feelings of comfort and when we feel comfortable, feelings of safety and security often follow.
Vanilla can be an interesting and invaluable tool to create a safe space and a little haven in your home. You may wish to use it for yourself, one of your children, or a close friend who pops over for coffee when they are having a hard time.
It’s a super simple little tip to help anyone feel safer (and more comfortable) in your home and personal space.
Hopefully, this gives you some idea of how to ‘construct’ your blends for better chances of success.
Creative Ways To Use And Blend NO. 1201
First, we are going to show you just how versatile NO. 1201 can be and create a selection of diverse diffuser blends to prove it!
How to Make Diffuser Blends With NO. 1201
NO. 1201 is a sophisticated and sensual fragrance oil all on its own. However, there’s plenty of room in the scent profile where we can add our unique touch or even tip the whole gender balance of the fragrance.
Having fun with amazing fragrances and creating your diffuser blends is an exciting place to begin blending fragrances and essential oils. Build your confidence and blending skills as you go, why not try them all?
I have given you some simple ideas on how to create harmonious accords, using the recommended scent companions. Let’s look at some more exciting suggestions that you can blend with.
Fragrance Notes |
Original Scent Profile | Ideal Companions |
---|---|---|
Top | Dew, Green, Blackcurrant Leaf |
Lemon, Lime, Kaffir Lime, Pink Grapefruit, Black Cherry, Lychee, Purple Plum, Raspberry, Lavender, Thyme, Rosemary, Ozone, Water notes |
Heart | Blackcurrant Fruit, Rose | Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Gardenia, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Palmarosa, Rose Geranium, Violet |
Base | Vanilla | Amber, Amyris, Cedarwood, Clove, Oakmoss, Oud, Tuberose, Vanilla |
Follow This Framework
- Add an element of green or citrus notes to the top notes.
- In the heart space add heady, intoxicating floral notes to add to the sensual nature of the fragrance and ramp up the femininity.
- To create more masculine heart notes, choose warm spices like Ginger, Nutmeg, and Pink Pepper and pair them with a deeper base note like Clove or a good dash of Vanilla.
- Deepen down the base notes and add smooth and rounded scents like Amber, and Oud.
- Sandalwood-like notes of Amyris and Cedarwood add a touch of deep rich woods to elevate the whole profile.
- NO. 1201 already has subtle Vanilla notes to the base and it will take a little more. Use the smooth and comforting Vanilla Oleoresin or vanilla-based fragrance oils. You could even combine it with our NO. 70 - Vanilla Odor Eliminator, it’s a little more subtle and will compliment NO. 1201 nicely. Don’t be too heavy-handed here, or you’ll bury that greenery and delicious rose under it all.
- Always blend and experiment with one drop at a time. Simply stop, mix everything well, and then give it a test, preferably out of the bottle, use a scent strip! It’s a fairly foolproof method and working in this way, you are unlikely to go wrong.
- Endeavor to maintain the balance of the original scent. It is key to the process and does improve your chance of overall success.
Generally speaking, when you follow this framework, it helps you to maintain the balance of the original scent profile and you can achieve incredible, and successful, outcomes!
Working Safely With IFRA
Diffuser Blends fall under IFRA Category 12, NO. 1201 fragrance oil has no safety restrictions in this particular category. This means that, within reason, you can use as much as you wish. However, using more does not always mean it will smell better, remember that you still need to maintain a balance.
POLITE REMINDER: For those of you with Cold Air Diffusers, please make sure you always use our DIFFUSER Fragrance Oil variation. Please DO NOT use Soaps & Candles, as they are too thick for your machines. (There is more information on this further on).
Method:
- Making your own Diffuser Blend is a brilliant entry project to start experimenting with using fragrance oils.
- Simply start by reading the recipe through.
- Then carefully measure out your fragrance oils and essential oils.
- In a small measuring jug, combine the oils and stir well with a steel or glass stirrer, don’t use plastic or wood as it will absorb the fragrance.
- Now you want to keep your bottle oil-free, so please use a funnel and decant the diffuser blend into your 10ml dropper bottle.
- A good quality silicone spatula is invaluable here because it will help you scrape every last precious morsel of oil from the jug and funnel into the bottle. This means less waste and much better value for money!
- If you have managed to keep your bottle clean and oil-free, your label should adhere much better.
- On a water and oil-proof label, list all of the ingredients used.
- For obvious safety reasons, you MUST label your bottle as ‘UNDILUTED’ please.
Using These Diffuser Blends:
- In the first instance, consult your manufacturer's instructions, please. Seek their specific guidance on your diffusers.
- Depending on which type of diffuser you have, you may need to dilute your blend. Your manufacturer’s guidance should state this.

This is perfect for any room in the house, we like it at the weekend to evoke the sense of family togetherness and joy. It’s a wonderfully versatile scent that you can use in many ways and we are sure it will become a firm favorite.
I’ve added some fresh green to the top notes and filled the heart with fruit notes.

- 7 ml of NO. 1201 - Inspired By: Baies By Diptyque Fragrance Oil

Tall, Dark, and Handsome
When you want to take something that’s overtly feminine and flip the gender balance, you need to look for space in the profile to be able to do that. Most men's fragrances have a floral heart anyway, so our play (and space) here is in the top and base notes. We are going to leave the heart as it is.
I have gone all in on those base notes, and so you end up with something unmistakably masculine and rather alluring!
It is ideal for use in more intimate spaces, we love it in the bedroom ... almost as much as we love it in the boardroom to stamp your authority on the space!

This Week’s Recipes
This week, we are working with the delicious green, fruity, and floral notes of NO. 1201. It has those green notes of highly fragrant currant leaves that have been dripped in morning dew before it melds in the delicious darkness of plump juicy blackcurrants. Wild roses festoon the heart before a subtle Vanilla finish wraps it all up beautifully.
NO. 1201, is perfectly suited for skincare and that is just what we are going to create today. The perfect little gift coffret that you can keep for yourself or give away as a delightful gift.
You will see how the scent can be slightly tweaked across the different products but maintain the heart of the fragrance to keep the whole set cohesive. I’ll explain what I am doing as we go, to deepen your understanding and build your skills and knowledge.
IFRA Safety
This IFRA safety is the same for all of these recipes because they are all face products.
NO. 1201 in IFRA Category 5B has maximum safety restrictions of 15.31%. This means in 100ml of product, you can use up to 15 ml of NO. 1201 - Inspired By: Baies By Diptyque Soaps and Candles fragrance oil.
15% is rather a lot, you don’t need this much, so we recommend no more than about 4%.
Use the ‘Face Cream’ option on the VINEVIDA Calculator to work out the correct safety data for your own recipes.
Micellar Cleanser
Clean your skin and lift out dirt and daily grime from your pores with this useful little number. It should be gentle enough for sensitive skin but always do a patch test first.
The essential oils bring all their own benefits for your skin with their chemical constituents and properties, so it is well worth using them.
- Rose Geranium adds a rosy note and balances your skin wonderfully.
- Grapefruit adds a sharp fresh note helps to reduce oily areas and cleanses your skin.
- Lavender adds herbal floral notes and soothes and softens your skin.
Now this is a recipe that you can make at home with natural, easy-to-buy, ingredients. To make Micellar Waters that compare with commercial varieties, please check out this video from Whole Elise. (Warning, contains lots of products with scientific names that may not be naturally derived).

Toner
NO. 1201 with its stunning fruity floral fragrance oil makes a delicious facial toner. I’ve combined it here with some really fresh and uplifting green notes for you. It makes quite an unusual, but very appealing, facial toner. Perfect for summer.
- Clary Sage adds green freshness and astringency.
- Lemon Eucalyptus is super vibrant and is a wonderful cleansing and healing agent for the skin.
I love how this will lift out any last die-hard bits of oil and grime that survived the Micellar Water to leave your skin, glistening, glowing, and super clean.
NOTE - I wanted to add green freshness with Cucumber notes, but many of the fragrance oils had IFRA safety recommendations of less than 1%. Don’t be afraid to change your plan and opt for essential oils to give both fresh green fragrance and their amazing benefits to your skin.

It’s all things rosy to back up the beautiful rosy tones of NO. 1201. Use the properties of these essential oils as follows:

- Stainless steel spoon
- Mixing bowl
- Whisk
- Jar Funnel
- Oil and waterproof label
- 100ml jar and lid
Ingredients:
- 30 ml of Aqueous Cream (Various Ingredients)
- 20 ml of Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii)
- 10 ml of Rosewater (Rosa Damascena)
- 10 ml of Witch Hazel (Hamamelis Virginiana)
- 10 ml of Glycerine (Glycerol)
- 10 ml of Argan Carrier Oil (Argania Spinosa)
- 10 ml of Rosehip Carrier Oil (Rosa Canina)
- 2 ml of NO. 1201 - Inspired By: Baies By Diptyque Soaps & Candles Fragrance Oil
- 10 drops of Rose Absolute Oil (Rosa Damascena)
- 20 drops of Rose Geranium Essential Oil (Pelargonium Asperum Var Roseum)

Optional: Preservative of your choice, please follow the manufacturer's instructions as they can vary from product to product.
Safety:
- Do not use it in the first 37 weeks of pregnancy.
- Avoid getting in the eyes. If some does get in your eyes, rinse with clean, tepid water. If irritation persists, seek immediate medical advice taking the clearly labeled container with you.
Method:
- Set your microwave to 20% power, if you can’t go as low as 20%, use the lowest setting available to you.
- Place the Shea Butter into a heatproof measuring jug and soften your Shea Butter at 20% power, in short 10-20 seconds bursts in the microwave.
- Once the Shea Butter is softened, thoroughly mix in your Aqueous Cream, combining completely.
- Add your Rosewater, Witch Hazel, and Glycerin and mix well.
- Measure out your Rosehip and Argan carrier oils, add your fragrance oil, and essential oils and combine thoroughly.
- Pour the oils into the bowl with the cream and mix everything thoroughly.
- Ideally, whisk it all together if you have a whisk available. Otherwise, just beat it well with a spoon. Don’t add too much air or it will sink back in the jar as the air escapes. It’s not a thick enough cream base to hold the air in place like Whipped Butter would.
- Decant into the jar using a jar funnel, and wipe the rim meticulously to discourage any mold.
- Talking of mold, cover it with a clean cloth, and leave it to cool completely. Do NOT lid while it is warm; the warm, moist environment can encourage mold.
- Once fully cooled, add the lid and tighten.
- List all of the ingredients on an oil and waterproof label.
How To Use:
- Do a 24-48 patch test before the first use, please.
- Apply the Moisturizer in light, upward motions to the skin. Take extra care not to drag the skin, especially around the eyes where the skin is thin and delicate.
- Leave to absorb for a few minutes before applying makeup. It makes the perfect base.
- Use within 3-6 months.

Diffusers and Candle Burners
Aromatherapy Candle Burners
You will be delighted to know that NO. 1201 Soaps and Candles fragrance oil may be used in all types of aromatherapy candle burners. We suggest that you dilute them with water.
Diffusers
For those of you with Nebulizing or Cold Air Diffusers, VINEVIDA has specifically formulated this NO. 1201 DIFFUSER Fragrance Oil for you.
VINEVIDA Soaps and Candles fragrance oil is NOT suitable for use in Cold Air or Nebulizing Diffusers. The fragrance oil fluid is too viscous (thick) for the fine nozzles on these types of diffusers and can block them up.
It will always be our first recommendation that for specific guidance, you consult the manufacturer's instructions for your own diffuser.
Need More Clarity?
Fear not! There is a whole heap more guidance on using our fragrance oils in How To Use VINEVIDA Oils. It can be useful if you are trying to work out which variation you need for your diffuser.

The Final Word
It has been wonderfully vibrant this week working with delicious and mouthwatering summer notes of NO. 1201 - Inspired By: Baies By Diptyque fragrance oil.
I have loved the idea of wandering through fruit-laden currant bushes with the rays of summer sun warming my face as dew soaks my bare toes in the damp grass. Fragrant currant leaves meet the juicy pop and burst of dark fruit. Wild roses envelop you and create a perfect moment in time.
Sink into summer with the vibrant fruity floral notes of NO. 1201. Here at VINEVIDA, we love its fresh, fruity vibrance that teeters over into a sublime sensuous, sophisticated elegance.
Have fun experimenting with NO. 1201, try all those lovely skincare recipes to create a delightful gift set, but also it gives you plenty of different scents to layer with and expands your blending knowledge too.
We love its versatility here at VINEVIDA and there’s plenty of space in the scent profile to play with. Make it your own!
