NO. 141 - Pink Lilac Bouquet Makes You Feel

With its honeyed floral sweetness, soft warmth of vanilla, airy green lift, and radiant spring character, No.141 makes you feel:

All The Glorious Characteristics Of A True Spring Scent

All The Glorious Characteristics Of A True Spring Scent

Spring-inspired fragrances tend to have:

    • Fresh, uplifting openings that feel airy. This could be made from citrus that feels bright and luminous or green and dewy, giving the impression of the early morning garden.
    • The heartspace is often airy but made from blossoms and petals to feel like a floral bouquet.
    • There are often strongly leafy, green notes to bring to make you think that stems have been crushed or flowers just cut, as well as the idea of new spring leaves on the trees.
    • Scents will be slightly warm with honeys, vanillas, floral balsams, or sheer musks. Warm, but not sugary, as if the light you are experiencing is dappled, just warm enough to dust the petals.
    • You might also have the sense that you can smell the colours of the spring pastel flowers. Sunshine-y yellow flowers feel light and hopeful. Pink blossoms feel soft, feminine, and greens feel fresh and vital.
    • Spring fragrances are adaptable and versatile. They feel sophisticated and elegant but are also easy to wear, especially in the daytime.

IFRA Safety Blending with NO. 141

NO. 141- Pink Lilac Bouquet is a great fragrance oil for beginners to work with, because the maximum amount you can use, according to the  IFRA skin safety data,  is quite generous.

This is ideal if you want to work with one fragrance oil (without blending it with anything else.  You will get pleasing results with relatively little effort.

Let’s take a look at a couple of examples:

The International Fragrance Regulation Authority (IFRA) guidelines break down the oil into different categories according to the kind of product you want to make.

For body creams, you will want Category 5a.

The maximum dilution recommendation for No. 141 Pink Lilac Bouquet in category 5a is 22.50%.

This means that in 100ml of body cream/lotion base, you can use up to 22.5ml of No. 141

Remember, this is a skin safety dilution rate, NOT a recipe recommendation.

22.5% of fragrance oil is a lot.

You won’t need anywhere near that much to make a fragranced body cream.

Start experimenting at around 3%. I reckon the sweet spot is NO. 141 will be about 5%.

Let’s look at another example.

Category 9 - covers soaps, shampoos, body washes, and bath salts.

It has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 37.27%.

But again, I would recommend starting at 3%.

Your soap mixtures might seize if you add any more than 10%, so don’t go nuts!

But these are great, easy dilution rates to experiment with, making No. 141 perfect for beginners.

It would also be great for a project to do with the kids, although…

Pro tip…children seem to adore NO. 63 - Pink Sugar
