But First, What's The Difference Between Fragrance Oil Types?
The Different Fragrance Oil Types

You'll notice that each fragrance oil in the Hotel Collection has two options.
The first, Soaps & Candles fragrance oils, are highly versatile. They can be used for a wide range of projects, from skincare and cosmetics to home products like candles, wax melts, and room sprays. These oils are formulated to be safe for skin, with all necessary safety information provided in the IFRA Statement on each product page.
The second option is our Diffuser fragrance oils, which are designed exclusively for use in nebulizing or cold-air diffusers. They are not intended for any other application.
All of our fragrance oils are cruelty-free, never tested on animals, and do not contain phthalates, parabens, SLS, or SLES.
For this article, I will be referring specifically to the Soaps & Candles fragrance oils variation.
Working Safely With Hotel Collection Fragrance Oils
Every VINEVIDA fragrance oil has its own individual IFRA safety guidelines, which you can find in the "Documents" section on its webpage. This document, called the IFRA Statement, tells you the maximum percentage of a fragrance oil that can be used safely on the skin. You must not exceed this amount to ensure the product remains skin-safe.
To make things easy, I will provide the recommended percentage for each project as we go. However, I encourage you to learn how to do this yourself; it's quite simple to understand. If you ever get stuck, our VINEVIDA Calculator is always available to help.

Ten Quick and Easy Ideas Using The Hotel Collection Fragrance Oils
NO. 1 - Wax Melts

Making wax melts is incredibly simple. To get started, you'll need soy wax, a bottle of our Soaps & Candles fragrance oil, and a suitable mold. You can melt the soy wax in a double boiler or a microwave. Once the wax is molten, add your chosen fragrance oil, mix well, and pour it into a mold. After the melts have set, simply place one in a wax burner to fill your home with the luxurious scent of your favorite Hotel Collection aroma.
Wax melts are a perfect entry-level project for beginners and make wonderful gifts. For a full tutorial, check out our guide on Creative Uses of Fragrance Oils for Wax Melts.
Tash Recommends NO. 1010 For Wax Melts
This fragrance features warm, spiced notes of roses, lemon, nutmeg, and clove, with a woody base of sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, and amber. Wax melts fall under category 12, and NO. 1010 has no restrictions. However, to ensure the wax sets properly, it's best to use no more than 10% fragrance oil.
NO. 2 - Face Serum

An oil-based face serum is one of the simplest projects you can make with our Hotel Collection fragrance oils, and the results can be surprising. You can create a bespoke serum tailored to your needs. Carrier oils, rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, do most of the work. You can also add essential oils to target specific skin issues, or simply combine a carrier oil, like rosehip oil, with your favorite Hotel Collection scent. For more information, see Rosehip Oil Benefits: Sublime Serum.
Tash Recommends NO. 1009 For Making Face Serums
My favorite Hotel Collection fragrance oil for making Face Serums would be the crisp, fresh, and floral notes of NO.1009. It is simply glorious for skincare. Bergamot is softened with luscious Rose and Jasmine. Warming Nutmeg sinks into the woody depths of Sandalwood and Guaiac Wood, and the smooth allure of Musk and Amber.
I love the fresh florals and the warm subtlety of NO. 1009. Why not create a complete set of luxurious skin care products to coordinate?
Face Serums are category 5B and NO. 1009 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 2.20%
NO. 3 - Sea Salt Bath Soaks

This is another quick and simple project you can create in under five minutes. When packaged correctly, homemade sea salt soaks make great gifts for bath lovers. For a soothing soak, try our Oat and Sea Salt recipe with colloidal oatmeal.
Tash Recommends NO. 1016 For Making Sea Salt Bath Soaks
My favorite Hotel Collection fragrance oil for making Bath Salts would be the sensational warm floral notes and complex base notes of NO. 1016. It is a fragrance fit for royalty. Sweet Berries collide with zesty Bergamot and tropical heart notes of Jasmine and warm Saffron. The base notes are bursting with precious fragrant elements like unique Oud, rare Ambergris, and sacred Sandalwood. Divine notes of Amber, mellow into rich Oakmoss and sweet, comforting Vanilla.Sea Salt Soaks are category 9 and NO. 1016 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 40.37%. You will find this one useful because it also has a very high IFRA maximum dilution rate in category 9. Which means you can use a fair amount to get an intense aroma, if you wish. Though I recommend, for safety and balance, using no more than 10% of NO. 1016. Why not give it a go and include some Colloidal Oatmeal? Tash Recommends NO. 1027 For Making Reed Diffusers
My favorite Hotel Collection fragrance oil for making Reed Diffusers would be the elegant and refreshing notes of dewy NO. 1027. It is a highly sought-after aroma for good reason. With a refreshing green and dewy introduction, blooming into a heartspace of blowsy Roses, perfumed frangipani’s, and statuesque Ginger flowers. All dripping in syrupy, honeyed Pineapple. Deepening into a precious Amber and powdery Musk dry down, to lingering wisps of sweet Devon Violets and English Lilacs.

NO. 5 - Melt & Pour Soap
If you've never made Melt & Pour soap before, give it a try. It's a quick, easy, and fun project. Simply cut the soap base into chunks, heat it gently until it's molten, then add your chosen colors and scents. Pour the mixture into a mold, let it set for a few hours, and it's ready to use! To get started, try the tutorial in our Pink Sugar - Fragrance Oil Of The Week article, and simply swap the fragrance.
Tash Recommends NO. 1006 For Making Melt & Pour Soap
This fragrance offers a deeply romantic and sophisticated take on a classic rose scent. It features notes of dark red roses, sweet praline, exotic spices, frankincense, and vetiver. Melt & Pour soap is in category 9, and NO. 1006 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 2.45%.
NO. 6 - Body Mist

Body mist is a quick and easy project, especially when using one of our gorgeous Hotel Collection fragrance oils. However, many people are disappointed with the results because they've omitted two crucial ingredients. The key to a successful body mist is using a preservative to prevent the water-based product from growing bacteria, and a dispersant to safely combine the oils into the water. This ensures undiluted oils aren't sprayed directly onto your skin.
To make it, simply mix your distilled water, a dispersant, a preservative, and your Hotel Collection fragrance oil, then pour it into a spray bottle and label it. You can also add extra ingredients like glycerin for skincare or magnesium flakes to combat sweat. To explore the possibilities and find recipes, check out our guide on How to Make Body Spray.
Tash Recommends NO. 1019 For Making Body Mist
I love the intimate nature of NO. 1019 - Inspired by: Sweetest Taboo & The Aria Hotel for making body mist. This Hotel Collection fragrance oil is sexy, decadent, and creates an electric atmosphere. With smooth, zesty Lemon Crème melting into sun-kissed Pomegranates and tart Raspberries, a heart of peonies gives way to sensual notes of vanilla and white woods. This scent grabs your attention and is perfect for date night or a night on the town.
Body mist is a category 2 application, and NO. 1019 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 7.20%.
NO. 7 - Perfume, Aftershave & Cologne

The wonderful thing about all of VINEVIDA’s Soaps & Candles fragrance oils is that they can be used to make alcohol based fragrances like perfume, aftershave, and colognes. The Hotel Collection fragrance oils are just perfect for these types of products. While they can be made quickly and used right away, they do benefit from a little maturation time. I recently made a new bespoke scent using NO. 3129 - Inspired by: Violet Blonde by Tom Ford and NO. 74 - Mystic Oud, and after a few weeks, it is offering more complexity and a mellower aroma. It has improved for maturation time. At its most simple, making an alcohol based fragrance is easy. All you need is Perfumer’s Alcohol, Distilled Water, and a fragrance oil of your choice. That’s it! Of course, you can get more adventurous by creating your own fragrance oils and essential oil blends. Check out both of these articles for all the background information you need to get started in making your own alcohol based fragrances.
Tash Recommends NO. 1001 For Making Perfume
Honestly, I would recommend any of the Hotel Collection fragrance oils for making an alcohol based fragrance, but if you had to push me to choose just one, it would be the fresh florals NO. 1001- Inspired by: Escapade & Ritz Carlton Hotel. It has vibrant and fresh, clean top notes of Lemon and Bergamot, which uplift and revitalize you with hints of the ocean. Luxurious floral notes of Jasmine entwine with glorious base notes of Amber and a mysterious flourish of Musk.
Creating a sublime scent sensation that is perfectly suited to perfumes and colognes. It can easily be blended with other fragrance oils and essential oils to make it more gender specific.

Try it with NO. 43 - Honeysuckle & Jasmine and NO. 56 - Ocean Rain for a bright, modern, feminine scent.
-
Add depth and contrast with NO. 79 - Vanilla Luxe fragrance oil & NO. 1205 - Inspired by: Oud Paris by Diptyque for a more complex and deeper masculine aroma.
-
I think NO. 1001 is one of the most versatile aromas in the collection and can be used for a myriad of projects, which is why it is consistently found in our Bestsellers list. Perfumes and aftershaves fall into different categories.
-
-
Those for use on shaved skin fall into categories 3A or 3B, where NO. 1001 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 1.20%
-
Those for use on unshaved skin fall into categories 4A or 4B, where NO. 1001 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 14.11%

NO. 8 - Hair Oil

I love a good hair oil and prefer to make my own using natural ingredients rather than silicones and other additives. Carrier oils, such as rosehip, argan, and jojoba, are excellent for promoting healthy hair growth and protecting your hair from environmental stressors. You can easily combine them with a Hotel Collection fragrance oil to create a product that nourishes your hair and smells incredible. Simply mix equal amounts of your chosen carrier oils, add your favorite Hotel Collection fragrance oil, then bottle and label it.

Tash Recommends NO. 1005 For Making Hair Oil
I like the zesty freshness of this scent because it won't overpower your main perfume. It features invigorating orange blossom, green melon, jasmine, and ocean air, finished with warm cedarwood, vanilla, and musk. You could add more zing with NO. 57 - Orange Sherbet or more revitalizing citrus aromas with NO. 48 - Lemon Verbena, but I love it just as it is. Hair oils are in category 7B, and NO. 1005 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 2.00%.
NO. 9 - Carpet Powder

This is one of my favorite ways to freshen up a home with Hotel Collection fragrance oils. To make this carpet powder, which is safe for most carpets (though a patch test is always recommended), simply mix equal amounts of baking soda and cornstarch in an old plastic container. Add the fragrance oil drop by drop across the surface to prevent clumping, then mix thoroughly. After letting it air dry a bit, store it in a sealed, labeled container. It's a super simple project!
Tash Recommends NO. 1002 For Carpet Powder
I prefer a bold scent, and this fragrance has incredible body and depth. It opens with fresh notes of lemon and bergamot, leading to a heart of freesias, roses, and black fig. The scent finishes with amber, mysterious musk, and blonde woods. I find it gives off an almost blackcurrant note, which is also found in NO. 1201 - Inspired by: Baies by Diptyque. For a more complex aroma, I'd combine it with NO. 1201 or a fresher scent like NO. 33 - Fresh Cut Roses. Carpet powders are in category 10A, and NO. 1002 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 4.81%.
NO. 10 - Wool Tumble Dryer Balls

Have you found these yet? I can’t stop using them! They're a quick and easy way to scent your laundry with Hotel Collection fragrance oils. I simply dilute my fragrance oil in some distilled water and perfumer’s alcohol, then spray the wool ball. After letting the alcohol evaporate for about an hour, I toss it in the dryer.
You can also drizzle a few drops of oil directly on the ball, but I prefer to dilute it to avoid the risk of the oil staining my clothes. This method has worked best for me over the years, even with my condensing tumble dryer. I have very sensitive skin, but I can use these. I keep a few wool balls in different airtight boxes with different scents. I tend to use a bright yet earthy scent like NO. 1028 - Inspired by: Nobu Hotel Las Vegas for my husband's laundry and the fresh sophistication of NO. 1031 - Inspired by: The Resort at Pelican Hill for my bed linens.
Tash Recommends NO. 1003 For Wool Tumble Dryer Balls
I love the vibrancy and refreshing nature of this scent for refreshing home furnishings. I simply throw my cushion covers, throws, and loose covers into the dryer for 10 minutes with three wool balls sprayed with NO. 1003. Its zesty notes of bergamot and lemongrass mingle with jasmine, lilies, and magnolia, while koa wood and musk create a sophisticated finish. Wool tumble dryer balls are in category 10A, and NO. 1003 has a maximum skin safety dilution rate of 12.50%.
