What Does It Mean When We Say A Fragrance Is "Skin Safe"

Many large fragrance houses we use our products require IFRA documentation for their oils. 

What Makes A Fragrance Oil Skin Safe?

IFRA, or the International Fragrance Association, promotes the safe use and enjoyment of fragrances. Rather than issuing guidelines around the safety of using a particular essential oil, they focus on the safety of each constituent in every oil in the blend.

And yes, it is as laborious and time-consuming as it sounds….but it's worth it, so we have done it for you.

Each skin-safe fragrance oil has the IFRA maximum dilutions calculated for you in the descriptions for each oil.

So, Why Are Skin Safe Fragrance Oils Important?

Well, consider that you want to create a deodorant for someone. Their skin will be much more sensitive than someone who has not shaved. And for some constituents, that would be ok, but others can be much more irritating to shaved skin.

Likewise, the amount you want to put in a shower gel - that could irritate the genitals- would be different from what you could put in a candle.

So our skin-safe fragrance oils are all carefully calculated to help you decide how much of each one you can use. 

Tips For Using Skin-Safe Fragrance Oils

Again, if the maximum dilutions of skin-safe fragrance oil are very low for use on shaved skin, then ask yourself if it's the right blend. If you can only use tiny amounts safely, will your perfume be as strong as you want?
