Regardless of how careful you are, we can always get sunburnt. I am a devil for it. I start messing with my beehives in the morning and am oblivious to how warm it is getting. My mom designed this recipe when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and I went to Egypt for my 21st birthday.
In Ayurvedic medicine, I have what would be described as pitta skin. That is, it is milky pale and reacts to the sun violently! First, it burns painfully, then returns to looking like a bottle of the gold top again. The oils in this DIY After Sun recipe are very soothing and help to nourish the skin in the hope that we can stop it from all peeling.
After Sun Lotion
- 2oz Aqueous Lotion
- 3 drops Blue Chamomile Essential Oil (Matricaria recutita)
- 2 drop Yarrow Essential Oil (Achillea millefolium)
- 2 drops Spearmint Essential Oil (Mentha spicata)
- 1 drop Cardamom Essential Oil (Elettaria cardamomum)
- 1 drop Patchouli Essential Oil (Pogostemon Cablin)
Method of Use: Use as and when required. I like to keep my bottle in the refrigerator, so it is super cold when you put it on!
Safety: Not suitable for use in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy.
Final Thought
This homemade after-sun lotion helps heal and repair damaged skin cells exposed to the sun's harmful rays.
