Creative Ways To Use And Blend Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil

Let’s explore some exciting and creative ideas for using the heartwarming Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil around home. Stand back and let your results be admired by family and friends…and even customers.

Ideas Around the Home

Stove Top Potpourri With Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil

PotPourri

I was flicking through Pinterest, as you do, and came across the gorgeously presented jars of Seasonal Stove Top Potpourri. They looked very upmarket and sophisticated. I like them because they are slightly different . Of course, I went away and tried making some and it smells utterly amazing.

Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil is simply perfect for this, you couldn’t want for anything better to add the ambience of the season to your home.

Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil IFRA safety dilution rate for Potpourri falls into category 10a, which gives a recommendation of using up to 31.25%.

How to:
  1. Simply take whole dried spices, fruits and herbs and combine them together.
    • Spice Suggestions (all whole - not ground) - Cinnamon Bark,  Cloves, Allspice, Cassia Bark, Nutmeg (chunks), Mace, Peppercorns, Coriander Seed.
    • Dried Fruit Suggestions - Raspberries, Strawberry, Blackcurrants, Mango, Citrus Peel, Sultanas,  Apricots, Pineapple Cranberries, Apples.
    • Dried Herb Suggestions -  Lemon Balm, Rosemary, Thyme, Lavender Flowers, Chamomile Flowers, Mint, Basil, Oregano, Marjoram.
    • Now, you are using dried ingredients so they don’t go moldy in the jar. If you add your fragrance oil to ingredients that might sit for a few days/week it is best to just include it as a small vial of the fragrance oil, packed separately into the jar.
    • If you or your recipient will be using it immediately, by all means, pop all the ingredients into a zip lock bag and add enough fragrance oil to lightly dampen the dried ingredients. Leave for at least 24 hours to absorb. Jar and label for it to be used immediately.
  2. Pop into a pretty glass jar, or use a basic jar and use attractive fabric or paper as a jar topper.
  3. Tie with decorative string and add a decorative label with instructions.
  4. To use - you would simply add it to a pan of simmering water on the stove top and let it infuse, Set a timer to check the water levels and take care to not let it burn dry.

More Ideas On How To Use Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil

There are so many ways you can use Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil around the home.  If you want some more seasonal ideas, we have covered two exciting ideas in articles fairly recently.

Check out last week’s Feu De Bois by Diptyque - Fragrance Oil Of The Week, for Ideas on how to create a Seasonal and Holiday themed Fireplace Centerpiece or Mantlescape. Pine cones are ubiquitous for this at this time of year and so Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil would be a prudent choice for this project too.

Creative Ideas for Beauty

Melt and Pour Glycerin Soap

Melt and Pour Glycerin Soap

Now, we have to be a little careful balancing fragrance oils like Roasted Pine Cone in beauty products. If it is too heavy on the Pine fragrance it can end up smelling like disinfectant and something you might clean the toilet with.

You need to carefully balance it and consider loading it more towards the floral or food related scents like Caramel. I’d add strong floral essential oils like Ylang Ylang or Rose Geranium to help balance it and maybe even deepen it with Patchouli.

Alternatively, you could blend it with more fragrance oils, like the ones suggested above. Ocean Rain to lighten and freshen and Cedarwood & Amber to deepen and make more sensuous.

Melt and pour soaps offer a wide range of versatility and are easy to use. I can readily admit that more than once I have re-melted a batch and tinkered with the scent and let it set again!

VINEVIDA fragrance oils will stand up to this kind of heat treatment so you can trust that if you make a mistake, it will withstand another blast of heat!

Check out this Pink Sugar - Fragrance Oil Of The Week for the full soap making tutorial. It is super easy, you get great results, FAST! They are perfect for holiday gifts.

TOP TIP: Always wrap them tightly in Saran Wrap or Vac Seal to stop any air contact degrading your soap.

Our Favorite Recipes With Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil

Well we’re going all things waxy for these favorite recipes with Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil this week. I find that when you’re making an investment like expensive wax, it pays to have a few different ways of using it. It makes it more cost effective and keeps things interesting.

For our first recipe, we are going to make some particularly sweet and highly desirable Botanical Wax Sachets, they seem all the rage at the moment and I like to keep you all up to the minute with these recipes.

The second recipe today is one that combines more of that wax and Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil with yet more of those gorgeous and attractive Botanicals!

Buying in bulk and getting two knock out products for your money is a no brainer. It makes it super cost effective and they make stunning gifts for the upcoming Holiday season.

Botanical Wax Sachets

Botanical Wax Sachets

What are Botanical Wax Sachets? They are small attractive tablets of smooth wax, laced with fragrant oils like Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil and decorated with stunning dried flowers and other botanicals.. You could also add some rather gorgeous essential oils if you wanted to.

Now, I realize I am sharing secrets here that are probably a little TMI, but I often pop my fragrant soaps and wax melts in my underwear drawers to scent my more intimate linens.  A wax sachet is meant for just this purpose, to pop into your drawers, closets and storage boxes to keep your linens smelling luscious.

Why not let Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil wrap you in its heartwarming embrace every time you reach for your scarf, gloves and hat this winter? (Or your knickers….sssh)!

Top Tip: You can buy specialist molds for this project but I made them with disposable plastic food container inserts. Have a look around the house for suitable containers you could use. It’s easy enough to add a hole for a hanging loop.

Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil in IFRA category 12 has no safety dilution restrictions.

You will need:

    1. Double Boiler
    2. Stainless steel spoon
    3. Suitable Molds
    4. Labels and gift bags
    5. Hanging String or Ribbon
    6. Tweezers would be useful

Ingredients:

    • Soy wax (Amount depends on your molds)
    • Mixed Dried Botanicals
    • Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil (Amount depends on how much wax you are using, I would suggest a ratio of 10- 20% as a starting point).

Optional - Wax colorant - follow the manufacturers' guidelines for use.

Safety:

    • Take care with hot wax.

Method:

Optional: Note when to add your colorant, if using according to the manufacturer's instructions and note when you need to do that, so you do not forget to add it.

    1. Measure out your Soy Wax and place in the double boiler
    2. Set the double boiler over a low to medium heat and slowly melt the wax.
    3. Once melted, remove from the heat.
    4. Add your Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil (and essential oils if using) and mix until thoroughly combined
    5. Pour slowly and gently into your molds and set them aside for a few minutes.
    6. In the meantime gather your dried botanicals to hand and organize yourself because you will need to work quickly.
    7. Wait for the time when the wax starts to turn cloudy and starts setting, but is still soft and pliable.
    8. At this point, as the wax begins to set, decorate the wax with the dried botanicals. Using  fragrant herbs, flowers, spices, dried fruits and other fabulous decorations. Larger items will need pressing down gently into the wax. Tweezers give you some extra precision in this work.
    9. Set the wax sachets to one side and let them set and harden off at room temperature.
    10. Allow them to set and dry for at least a couple of hours before removing them from the molds.
    11. Attach hanging ribbons if required.
    12. Allow at least 48 hours setting, for any moisture to evaporate fully, to reduce the risk of mold. This is important if you intend to put them in a sealed and airtight bag for sale or gifting.
    13. Now if you are gifting or selling these you need to clearly label them, listing all ingredients and date for safety reasons. This is especially so if you have used essential oils.

How to Use:

    1. Hang in your closet or pop into your drawers and storage boxes.
    2. Take extra care with precious and vintage linens as sometimes there could be oil or color transference.
    3. You can refresh by simply melting it back down, straining out the botanicals and adding more fragrance oil. Re-use, re-fresh, rather than end up in refuse!

Wax Fire Lighters

Wax Fire Lighters

So, you have purchased the wax, you have purchased or collected some dried botanicals and you have some left over. Wax Fire Lighters are the perfect project for using with Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil. Whether you use it as a stand alone project or just use up what you have left from making the Wax Sachets. You can even turn your mistakes into successes!

I REALLY love these and I very much enjoy making them. I have made them in different way over the years, sometimes in Muffin cases and often in egg boxes where you just tear off one of the little wells when you need it. You can even use old loo rolls like the image above, but I would recommend cutting them in half first.

There are so many different ways to decorate these firelighters and make them attractive. People use both fresh and dried botanicals, just remember anything fresh will need using immediately. If you plan to make some for gifts, stick to dried botanicals if you can. However, those that have fresh sprigs of Rosemary with a Pine cone are pretty hard to beat!

You pop a wick in them and you would light them like you would a candle and you just light your fire from it, eventually the flames consume the wax and it really gets the fire flaming!

Again, you could add essential oils to create an altogether more fragrant experience. These gorgeous firelighters certainly raise the heat level.

We are looking at Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil in IFRA category 12 which has no restrictions in the safety dilution rate. You can use as little or as much as you like within reason of course!

You Will Need:.

    1. Double Boiler
    2. Stainless steel spoon
    3. Suitable wells to hold the wax which will burn - muffin cases, egg boxes, paper cups
    4. Small wicks (I don’t use holders as you have to fish them out of the ashes - but can if you wish)
    5. Labels
    6. Tweezers would be useful.

Ingredients:

    • Soy Wax (depends on size and amount of molds)
    • Dried Mixed Botanicals
    • Roasted Pine Cone Fragrance Oil depends on how much wax you are using - go with about 10-20% as a starting point.

Optional - Wax colorant - follow the manufacturer instructions.

Safety:

    • Take care with hot wax.

Method:

Optional: Note when to add your colorant, if using according to the manufacturer's instructions and note when you need to do that, so you do not forget to add it.

    1. Set the double boiler over a low to medium heat and measure out your Soy Wax and place in the double boiler.
    2. Slowly melt the wax.
    3. While waiting, pop a wick in each of the molds/cases. I don’t use holders because you have to fish them out of the ashes. In paper cases, I might use a tiny dab of glue and I have even used glue dots to hold them in place in the past.
    4. Once the wax is melted, remove from the heat.
    5. Add your Roasted Pine Cone fragrance oil (and essential oils if using) and mix until thoroughly combined.
    6. Pour slowly and gently into your molds, muffin cases or paper cases and set them aside for a few minutes.
Decorating The Firelighters
    1. While you are waiting, gather your dried botanicals to hand and organize yourself because you will need to work quickly during this stage. A pair of tweezers, might help with precision.
    2. Wait for the time when the wax starts to turn cloudy and starts setting, but is still soft and pliable.
    3. Carefully, decorate the wax with the dried botanicals. Using fragrant herbs, flowers, spices, dried fruits and other fabulous decorations. Larger items will need pressing down gently into the wax. Small Pine and Larch cones are great for this because they catch fire easily.
    4. Set the firelighters to one side and let them fully set and harden off at room temperature.
    5. Allow them to set and dry for at least six hours.
    6. Remove them from the molds if applicable. If you have used paper cases, leave them on.
    7. Trim the wicks if necessary to about 1 cm.
Packaging The Firelighters
    1. Allow at least 48 hours for any moisture to evaporate fully. Don’t skip this step if you intend to put them in a sealed and airtight bag for sale or gifting as they could mold otherwise.
    2. Now, if you are gifting or selling these you need to clearly label them, listing all ingredients and date for safety reasons. This is especially so if you have used essential oils.

How To Use:

    1. Clean any residual ashes from the fire grate.
    2. Simply light the wick of the wax fire lighter and place in the fire grate.
    3. Slowly add small, thin wooden kindling, in a teepee like formation, over the flame. Triangulate people, TRIANGULATE!
    4. Wait until the wood catches, at which point the whole firelighter is likely to melt and burst into more flame, at this point keep adding kindling to keep the fire going.
    5. Once established add larger pieces of wood.
    6. Kick back, relax and enjoy the fruits and scents of your labor.
